Prevailing showery condition in the South-western part of the country (particularly in Southern, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces) is expected to continue further, the Department of Meteorology said today (15) issuing an advisory.
Heavy rainfall over 200 mm is expected to occur at some places tonight.
Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere especially in Eastern, Uva and North-central provinces with isolated heavy falls about 100mm, the Met. Department said further.
In the meantime, naval and fishing communities have been advised not to venture into the shallow and deep sea areas around the island until further notice, due to rough seas.
People living in hill areas (particularly landslide-prone areas) have also been urged to be vigilant.
