Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews, batsman Kumar Sangakkara and spinner Rangana Herath have been named in the ICC Test Team of the Year while Ajantha Mendis is the lone Sri Lankan in the ODI Team of the Year. Mathews is also the captain of the Test Team of the Year.

Australian left-arm seamer Mitchell Johnson claimed an award double by winning the cricketer of the year - ahead of Sri Lankan duo Kumar Sangakkara and Angelo Mathews and South Africa’s AB de Villiers - and Test cricketer of the year in the International Cricket Council’s annual honours.

Johnson claimed 59 wickets in eight Test matches in the voting period between August 26, 2013 and September 17, 2014, including figures of 7-40 against England in Adelaide last December as  Australia made their way to a 5-0 Ashes series win.

The 33-year-old also won the cricketer of the year in 2009 and is only the second player after his former skipper Ricky Ponting to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy on two occasions.

He joins Ponting and current captain Michael Clarke as the Australians to win the Test cricketer accolade.

Yorkshire left-handed batsman Gary Ballance won the emerging cricketer of the year award, while England Women’s wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor was named as the women’s one-day player of the year.
