Landslide warnings issued for 10 districts further extended

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) says that landslide warnings issued for 10 districts are further extended in view of the prevailing rainy weather conditions.
The risk of landslides has increased in several Divisional Secretariats in Galle, Matara, Matale, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Kegalle, Colombo, Nuwara Eliya, Kurunegala, and Kandy districts, stated NBRO.
There, residents in the area where warnings have been issued must continue to remain vigilant of landslide risks, NBRO said.
Senior scientist of the organization Wasantha Senadheera says that these warnings have been issued due to the prevailing rainy weather.
Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department forecasts showers or thundershowers in the coming three days.
