Flags were flying at half-mast as the match took place in the wake of the death of Phillip Hughes. The players wore black armbands and a two-minute silence was observed before the start of play.
Alastair Cook announced one change to his side, with Steven Finn fit to lead the attack after a groin strain replacing Ben Stokes. Sri Lanka were unchanged after their 25-run win on Wednesday.
