Met Dept warns of rough seas & strong winds

The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for strong wind and rough seas.
The Department said that the deep and shallow sea areas extending from Galle to Trincomalee via Colombo and Kankasanturai and from Matara to Batticaloa via Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times.
The other sea areas around the island can be fairly rough at times, the advisory further read.
The warning issued at 03.30 pm this evening (07) will in effect for another 24 hours.
The naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
