
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka have moved up to 1,821 following the detection of two more virus-positive patients.
The Department of Government Information says a total of 7 infections were detected so far within the day – 02 returnees from London who are under quarantine, 01 returnee from Bangladesh at Rantambe quarantine centre and 04 returnees from Kuwait at Trincomalee quarantine centre.
Earlier today, the country’s recoveries tally escalated to 941 as a total of 50 coronavirus patients had recovered from the disease completely.
They were discharged from the IDH (05), Welikanda Base Hospital (01), Iranawila Hospital (02), Kattankudy Base Hospital (13), Homagama Base Hospital (22) and Minuwangoda Base Hospital (07).
Accordingly, 869 Covid-19 patients are currently under medical care, says the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry.
In the meantime, the death toll from coronavirus stands at 11.
