
Due to the active South-west monsoon condition, the wind speed will be (50-60) kmph, gusting up to (60-70) kmph in the western and southern deep and shallow sea areas of the island during the next few days, particularly from tonight until June 15.
The Department of Meteorology said the above sea area can be very rough at times. Other sea areas around the island can be rough at times.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard in the above sea areas.
Land areas:
Showers will occur at times in Western, North-western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy falls of about 50 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Nuwara-Eliya, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.
Wind speed can increase up to (40-50) kmph at times over the island, particularly in western slopes of the Central hills and Northern, North-central, North-western provinces and in Hambantota district.
