
The Police have decided to implement a special operation to remove illegal posters and cutouts related to the upcoming general election.
The Police Media Division stated that the relevant program will cover all police divisions under the directives of the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
This operation will be carried out by setting up roadblocks and motorcycle patrols.
According to the Parliamentary Elections Act, the display of leaflets, exhibition papers, leaflets, drawings, advertisements, photographs of a candidate, an election symbol, a flag is prohibited.
Accordingly, the police had taken steps to remove illegal election propaganda mounted on buses, three-wheelers, and other vehicles during the raids carried out today (14).
The police further stated that legal action will be taken against the owner of the vehicle if a candidate’s photograph, number, poster, advertisement or a sign promoting the election is found printed in an illegal manner.
