
Sri Lanka has taken a decision to halt the import of handloom and Batik textiles into the country, stated President’s Media Division.
The decision has been taken under the directives of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
“I decided to stop the importation of handlooms and batik textiles to attract more manufacturers to the local textile industry,” the President said.
This decision has been taken as a measure to uplift the local manufacturers of the handloom and batik textiles and to attract more manufacturers to the industry.
A meeting, chaired by President Rajapaksa, was held at the Presidential Secretariat today (15) on the issues faced by textile manufacturers in the country.
