President to meet with Election Commission

A meeting between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and officials of the Election Commission is scheduled to be held today (17).
The meeting is slated to be held at the Presidential Secretariat this morning while the forthcoming parliamentary election is expected to be discussed.
The Election Commission recently announced that the 2020 General Election, which was twice postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held on August 05.
This is the first meeting between the President and members of the Election Commission since the election date was declared and gazetted.
Meanwhile the Election Commission states that the certifying of the postal voter list will be carried out tomorrow.
