‘Kudu Thilan’ sentenced to death

Drug trafficker Dewage Thusitha Kumara alias ‘Kudu Thilan’, who was found guilty for the possession and trafficking of heroin, has been sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court.

 

Colombo High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi delivered the verdict today (18) following a trial that lasted around 06 years.

 

The suspect was arrested on June 20, 2014 by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) along with 274 grams of heroin in the Battaramulla area.

 

The Attorney General subsequently filed a case against ‘Kudu Thilan’ on charges of possession and trafficking heroin. 

 

The court decided that the charges leveled against the defendant have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt and handed him the death penalty.
