Arrest without warrants is possible for displaying posters, cutouts and preferential numbers, says the Chairman of Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya.
Earlier this month, the police launched a special operation all police divisions to remove illegal posters, cutouts and preferential numbers related to the looming general election.
In the meantime, special mock elections were conducted in Mattakkuliya and Dematagoda areas today (20).
The purpose of these mock elections is to educate the voters on how to cast their ballot while adhering to health guidelines.
Nearly 400 voters took part in these mock elections.
