
The Welisara Naval Complex, closed off due to the COVID-19 outbreak, will be reopened from tomorrow (June 23), stated the Spokesman of the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Navy base will recommence operations under several stages in accordance with guidelines issued by the health sectors.
The Welisara Navy Base was closed off as a cluster of COVID-19 cases was reported within the premises.
The largest cluster of coronavirus cases in the country was reported from the base.
On June 20, Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe has handed over the letter declaring the Welisara Naval Base premises as a coronavirus-free zone to the Commander of Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.
