
Three police officers attached to the Aranayake Police Station in Kegalle have been interdicted from service over obtaining a bribe.
A Sub-inspector and 02 Police Sergeants have been interdicted in this manner, Ada Derana reporter said.
Reportedly, they had received a bribe of Rs 60,000 from an illegal liquor racketeer.
The officers had arrested a suspect transporting 80 bottles of liquor illegally on a three-wheeler.
However, the officers had allegedly obtained a bribe of Rs 60,000 in cash for noting a lesser number of liquor bottles found in the suspect’s possession.
Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP) of Kegalle is carrying out further investigations on the matter.
