Royal trounce Isipathana to claim rugby title

  Royal College Colombo beat Isipathana College-Colombo 21-08 and were crowned the Inter Schools League Rugby Champions on Saturday (20).

 

The confrontation between the only unbeaten teams this season saw Royal College outclass Isipathana College in the grand finale of the Singer ‘A’ Division Rugby League at the Royal Sports Complex.

 

Both Royal and Isipathana have dished out a superb brand of rugby this year and a terrific tussle for supremacy was expected today with the winning team bagging the Singer ‘A’ Division League Trophy and Milroy Fernando Memorial Trophy.

 

Last year Isipathana clinched the Milroy Fernando Trophy by beating Royal by a whisker (15-14) and also withstood a fierce challenge by the Reid Avenue school to emerge triumphant by 27-22 in the Milo Trophy knock-out final.
