Pakistan opt to bat in 2nd Test

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first against Sri Lanka in the second Test of the three-match series at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on Thursday.

 

Earlier in the first Test played at the Galle International Stadium, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

 

Pakistan’s leg spinner Yasir Shah took overall 9 wickets in the match with 7 wickets for 76 runs in the second innings against Sri Lanka, the best bowling figure by any Pakistani spinner in last 20 years.

 

The Sri Lankan JK Silva and Pakistan’s Asad Shafiq scored centuries in the first innings of the match for their respective sides.

 

On the 5th and final day of the first Test at Galle, Sri Lanka had set an easy victory target of 90 runs for Pakistan which the green shirts achieved without any loss.
