Angelo Mathews was dismissed soon after he brought up his sixth Test ton on Day Three of the second Test at P Sara Oval, Colombo. Sri Lanka are 285 for the loss of six wickets with Dhammika Prasad and Jehan Mubarak playing for them.

Both he and Lahiru Thirimanne were superb for Sri Lanka adding more than 127 runs together. Thirimanne scored his fourth Test fifty to take the trail below 200 runs but soon fell to Ishant Sharma for 62. Mathews came out all guns blazing hitting Ishant Sharma for three boundaries in an over to set the tone for Sri Lanka. The Indians though came back taking the wicket of Dinesh Chandimal early as well.

Mathews survived a few chances before he got to his ton and soon after he got to his ton, he was caught behind handing Stuart Binny his maiden Test wicket. India will be delighted with their work in the second session of play.

Leg spin bowler Amit Mishra took four wickets to help India gain an 87-run first innings lead by bowling Sri Lanka out for 306 on the third day of the second test Saturday.

Mishra finished with 4-43 as India overcame a century from Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews and a 127-run partnership between Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne for the fourth wicket.

Mathews made 102 off 167 deliveries while Thirimanne was out for 62. Opener Kaushal Silva also scored a half-century with 51.

Sri Lanka at stumps on Day Two were sitting comfortably at 140 for 3. India had taken out Dimuth Karunaratne early but the 74-run stand between Kumar Sangakkara and Kaushal Silva steadied them. Sangakkara was out for 32 in his penultimate Test innings. Silva fought hard for his ninth Test fifty but got out later in the day to Amit Mishra for 51. The Indian bowlers bowled tight lines and lengths and did not give much away to the hosts.
