Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first in their third one-day international against West Indies in Pallekele on Saturday.
With Sri Lanka already clinching the series 2-0, the third and final is more of a dead rubber. However, West Indies will want to notch their first win on the tour and show that they are here to compete. In short the visitors will play for pride.
Both the preceding ODIs were curtailed by rain and we had reduced matches. The first ODI was reduced to 26 overs and then the second one was 38 overs affairs. West Indies came close to win the first ODI in a keenly fought contest, but the home side kept nerves to register win.
In the second ODI, Sri Lanka notched a comfortable win while chasing 225. The home team chased down the required target with eight wickets in hand.
