Apparel factory worker in Divulapitiya tests COVID-19 positive

A new COVID-19 case is reported in the country as a woman from Divulapitiya, Minuwngoda has been tested positive for the virus.

 

The patient has been identified to be a 39-year-old employee at a major apparel factory in the Minuwangoda area.

 

She has been transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Angoda from the Gampaha Hospital.

 

Reportedly, she had tested positive in the PCR test carried out on her when she was being discharged from the Gampaha Hospital over a case of fever.

 

A 45 of her close contacts have been directed for the quarantine process, said the Commander of Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

 

In addition, 15 of the staff members at the Gampaha Hospital have been sent for quarantine.

 

The process of identifying other possible associates is currently underway and the manner by which the virus-positive woman had contracted the virus is being investigated.

 

The health sector says that the condition of the woman is not critical.
