The Black Caps have had an impressive Twenty20 World Cup warmup, thrashing Sri Lanka by 74 runs in Mumbai.
Colin Munro top-scored with 67 runs off 34 balls as New Zealand amassed 226-4 from their 20 overs.
Corey Anderson was left 60 not out after Martin Guptill had opened the innings with a quickfire 41.
Speedster Adam Milne was New Zealand’s best bowler, returning 3-26 as Sri Lanka was restricted to 153-7.
Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi picked up two wickets and Tim Southee and Anderson chimed in with one wicket each.
AFter the match the teams then practiced a “super over” which will be used in the tournament to decide tied scores.
Sri Lanka plundered 25 off Mitchell McClenaghan’s over.
New Zealand came up short with their reply. Guptill needed to hit a six off the last ball for “victory” but couldn’t and the Kiwis had to be satisfied with 20 from their one over.
New Zealand play England in a second warmup match at the weekend.
Their tournament opener is against host India in Nagpur next week.
