The officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Panadura North Police Station and two motorcyclists have been hospitalized with injuries following collisions involving two high speed motorcycles at the Henamulla Junction in Panadura North.
Following information received by Panadura North Police Station regarding illegal motorcycle races on the road, the OIC of the station had visited the location in question at around 1.00 a.m. today (15).
He had stopped the police jeep on the road and traveled a bit forward when suddenly one of the motorcycles involved in the races had hit him while another motorcycle had also lost control and crashed into the front of the police jeep.
The two motorcyclists and the OIC of Panadura North have been admitted to the Colombo national Hospital with serious injuries.
Ada Derana reporter said that the OIC has suffered fractures to his feet.
Panadura North Police is conducting further investigations.
