Eight more police officers at the Borella Police Station have been identified as coronavirus patients, stated the Police.
Reportedly, 8 out of 10 PCR tests carried out on October 31 have been determined to be COVID-19 positive.
Accordingly, a total of 14 officers have been identified as COVID-19 patients so far, stated the Police.
Currently, over 130 police officers have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus infection.
Joining the TV Derana breakfast show ‘Derana Aruna’ this morning (02), Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said that a new cluster has been formed within the Sri Lanka Police.
“It [the cluster]was not created by police officers on duty. This was created by the police restaurant managers who visited the Peliyagoda Fish Market and Special Task Force (STF) personnel.
However, all of them have been sent to quarantine centers, or referred to barracks for self-quarantine. STF personnel are referred to the nearest quarantine center while the others are being quarantined in Kelaniya, Rajagiriya, and Kalubowila camps.
It is from these that [the new cases] are now emerging. The number had risen to 135 this morning.”
