District Secretaries and District Coordinating Committee Chairmen have been instructed to take maximum measures to control the COVID-19 outbreaks within their areas.
Reportedly, steps have been taken to delegate decision-making powers to the District Secretaries in order to maintain the economic status of the districts and the livelihood of the people.
The decision has been taken at a meeting chaired by Basil Rajapaksa, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation, to control the COVID-19 epidemic, the Prime Minister’s Media Unit said.
Basil Rajapaksa said that even when the world’s leading countries have imposed travel restrictions in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, decisions are being taken to meet the needs of the people and to achieve economic goals without imposing a curfew on the entire island.
