Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 figures surge with 187 fresh cases

The Department of Government Information confirms that 187 more persons linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster were tested positive for Covid-19 today (05).
Reports revealed that all of them are close contacts of earlier positive cases.
Thereby, the total number of Covid-19 infections registered by the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster reached 9,492 while Sri Lanka’s daily cases count hit 400.
With the new development, Sri Lanka has confirmed 12,970 novel coronavirus infections to date.
According to Health Ministry’s data, 7,186 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the virus.
The Epidemiology Unit says 5,754 active cases are still receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals across the island.
