Western Province reported over 10,000 Covid-19 cases since Oct. 4

Total Covid-19 infections registered by the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster within the Western Province have hit 10,045.

 

According to Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, 271 out of the 373 patients detected yesterday are from Colombo District while Gampaha District registered 46 positive cases.

 

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) says the Colombo District has reported 4,640 coronavirus cases since the 4th of October.

 

Gampaha District meanwhile recorded the highest number of positive cases during this period, adding up to 4,834 in total.

 

As per Epidemiology Unit’s tally, Sri Lanka has confirmed 15,723 coronavirus cases to date and 10,653 of them have made complete recoveries.

 

However, 5,022 of them are still under medical care at selected hospitals across the country.

 

Covid-19 death toll meanwhile stands at 48.
