
National Dangerous Drug Control Board has introduced a hotline to provide assistance to drug addicts and their family members.
The hotline – 1927 – will accordingly be in service 24 hours in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.
Drug addicts have been identified as a more vulnerable group of persons given the current the Covid-19 situation in the country and many difficulties they have to face when seeking medication and counselling services have been observed, the Chairman of National Dangerous Drug Control Board Dr. Laknath Welagedara said in a statement.
Thereby, the aforementioned hotline was introduced to address the issued faced by drug addicts and their closed ones, he stated.
