
Sri Lanka’s death toll from Covid-19 climbed to 66 as five more patients succumbed to the virus, the Department of Government Information confirmed.
The first victim is a 65-year-old man from Colombo 10 area. He had been under medical care at the Punanai Treatment Centre after testing positive for coronavirus and was later transferred to the Welikanda Base Hospital for treatment. Reports revealed that he died of high blood pressure due to Covid-19 infection.
The second victim is a woman, aged 69, had passed away at her residence in Ratmalana area. The immediate cause of death has been determined as Covid-19 infection and complications in diabetes and high blood pressure.
The next victim, a 71-year-old woman from Kirulapone area, also died at her residence. According to reports, he had been suffering from high blood pressure diabetes and Covid-19 infection.
Another woman, 81-year-old from Colombo 02 area, died of the virus while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Covid-19 pneumonia has been declared as the immediate cause of death.
The fifth victim is an 82-year-old man from Dematagoda area. He has died of complications in diabetes cause by Covid-19 infection while at this home.
