The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.
Heavy showers about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Northern, North-central and North-western provinces.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
A few showers may occur in the Nothern and Eastern provinces, particularly in the morning too.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Western provinces during the morning.
Sea Areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee . Showers may occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be south-easterly to easterly in the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and the wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Winds will be variable in direction in the other sea area around the island and the wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee will be moderate. The other sea area around the island will be slight.
