An unbeaten century from Dhananjaya de Silva put Sri Lanka in control of the second and final Test against Zimbabwe after a fluctuating first day at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Having gone from 62 for 0 to 112 for 4 on either side of lunch, an unbeaten 75-run partnership from the pair of Upul Tharanga and Dhananjaya de Silva helped Sri Lanka recover and gain a more solid footing at the time of Tea on Day 1 of the second Test at the Harare Sports Club, on Sunday (November 6).
The duo buckled down in the face of some disciplined bowling from the hosts and defied them from making further inroads after Kusal Mendis was nicked off early after the Lunch break by Donald Tiripano.
Earlier in the day, after a positive 62-run opening stand from Kausal Silva and Upul Tharanga on a pitch with a green tinge, all-rounder Hamilton Masakadza had inspired a fightback with wickets in consecutive overs. Strangely though, the medium pacer wasnt used at all post Lunch. Admittedly, the lateral movement did water down as the day went on.
