The United National Party (UNP) which is contesting all districts under its elephant symbol, has finalized around 80 per cent of the nomination lists, says party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.
Addressing the media at party headquarters ‘Siri Kotha’, theKandy district former Parliamentarian said that the UNP will tomorrow (Sunday) officially start accepting the signatures of its nominees on the list.
Several new faces who can give a strong challenge to the Government have been introduced, said Mr. Attanayake adding that the nominations will be handed over to the Elections officials on February 25 or 26.
“We are still open to discussions with other parties interested to contest under our alliance, especially the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) which contested the recent Presidential poll along with us,†said Tissa Attanayake.
