The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League was made in Nyon. For the first time in the competition’s history, five representatives from the same nation will compete in the knock-out stages with all of the Premier League sides having progressed.

Chelsea were the only one of the quintet to have failed to win their respective group, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham all progressing as top seeds.

Here is the draw for the last 16,

Juventus vs Tottenham                         13 February, 7 March

FC Basel vs Manchester City               13 February, 7 March

FC Porto vs Liverpool                           14 February, 6 March

Sevilla vs Manchester United                21 February, 13 March

Real Madrid vs PSG                             14 February, 6 March

Shakhtar Donetsk vs AS Roma            21 February, 13 March

Chelsea vs Barcelona                           20 February, 14 March

Bayern Munich vs Besiktas                   20 February, 14 March

Reacting to the draw, Standard Sport’s chief football correspondent James Olley said: “Chelsea have paid a high price for finishing second in their Champions League group by being paired with Barcelona in today’s 16 draw.

“Five English teams made it through to this stage for the first time in the competition’s history and Antonio Conte’s side could only face Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain or Besiktas as a result of finishing runners-up behind Roma.

“The Blues were not alone in receiving a tough assignment, however, as Tottenham will play last season’s finalists Juventus despite topping a group containing Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

“The most mouth-watering tie sees Real Madrid meet PSG while Manchester United play Sevilla, Liverpool meet Porto and Manchester City were drawn against FC Basel.”
