Sri Lanka bowled out Bangladesh for 82 runs, and then went on to chase down the target in just 11.5 overs to take a 10-wicket win over their opponents.
It has been a complete shocker of an innings from Bangladesh after they won the toss and elected to bat first against Sri Lanka at Dhaka. Right-arm seamer Suranga Lakmal started strongly as he took 3 early wickets in the day to send Anamul Haque, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah in quick succession.
Brilliant fielding efforts from Danushka Gunathilaka helped Sri Lanka in getting rid of the danger man Shakib Al Hasan, who departed on 8. Mushfiqur Rahim tried to resist the lethal charge from the Dinesh Chandimal-led side.
But the right-hand batsman departed on 26 becoming a victim to Dushmantha Chameera, who took two wickets in his 5th over.
Bangladesh batting order failed to face the pressure and completely collapse with no other batsman apart from Rahima and Sabbir Rahman getting on to a double digit score. Rahim’s 26 remained the highest individual score of the match.
Danushka Gunathilaka and Upul Tharanga just took 11.5 overs to chase down the target. Sri Lanka won by 10 wickets and will face Bangladesh in the final on Saturday.
