Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by two wickets to set up summit clash against India in the Nidahas Twenty20 cricket tri-series in Colombo today.
Players brawled on the pitch during Bangladesh’s shock win over Sri Lanka amid chaotic scenes in Colombo.
Fuming Shakib Al Hasan felt two bouncers were bowled in the final over which were both over shoulder height, neither of which were given.
It led to a Bangladeshi sub fielder confronting umpires and Sri Lankan players before Shakib called off his players.
That’s despite them needing just 12 runs off four balls to make the Nidahas Twenty20 Tri-Series final.
Umpires had to get between rowing players to stop the situation escalating before coach Khaled Mahmud urged the game to go on.
The Bangladeshis - led by Mahmudullah - then pulled off mission impossible. He belted the next ball for four, struck two off the fourth ball before smashing a towering six to win the game with the penultimate one.
It prompted more wild scenes at the end with Bangladesh bowling coach Courtney Walsh having to diffuse the situation.
Mahmudullah wound up 43 not out off 18 balls.
