Sri Lanka include 17-year-old Kavisha Dilhari for Women’s World T20

Seventeen-year-old allrounder Kavisha Dilhari has been included in the Sri Lankan squad for the upcoming Women’s World T20.

Dilhari, earmarked as a future star, made her ODI debut earlier this year and played a vital role in helping her side end a streak of 10 successive ODI losses to India.

She was then drafted into the T20I squad for the India series at home and even though she failed to make a mark in the four games she played, Dilhari has found a place in the squad for the showpiece event.

Eshani Lokusuriyage and Dilani Manodara, who earned recalls for the series against India, have retained their spots as Chamari Athapaththu continues to lead the side. Inoshi Priyadharshani, who picked up three wickets in the solitary T20I she played in that home series against the neighbours, has been included whereas Inoka Ranaweera and Nipuni Hansika have been axed despite not getting a game in the five-match series.

However, both Ranaweera and Hansika are among the five players named as standbys in case of an injury to any of the players present in the original squad. Alongwith those two players, Imalka Mendis, Anushka Sanjeewani and Harshitha Madavi are the ones named as backup.

Squad: Chamari Athapaththu(c), Nilakshi de Silva, Kavisha Dilhari, Ama Kanchana, Sugandika Kumari, Eshani Lokusuriyage, Dilani Manodara, Yasoda Mendis, Hasini Perera, Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Shashikala Siriwardene, Rebeca Vandort, Sripali Weerakkody
