Kusal Perera smashed a century as Sri Lanka posted a formidable total of 314/8 against Bangladesh in the 1st ODI at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Friday.

The Sri Lanka batsman reached his hundred in just 82 balls to show a spectacular performance against their Asian rival.

Perera hit 111 from 99 balls before losing his wicket to Soumya Sarkar.

Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and elected to bat first.

After opener Avishka Fernando was dismissed for just 7 runs, Parera managed a 93-run stand with Dimuth Karunaratne.

Karunaratne was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan at the score of 36.

Later, Parera accounted for a 100-run partnership with Kusal Mendis. With his century, Parera has now hit five centuries in ODIs.

Angelo Mathews was dismissed two runs short of a half century while retiring pacer Lasith Malinga came into bat afterwards and finished with 6 runs not out.
