Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat in the third and final one-day international against Pakistan on Wednesday.

Pakistan leads the series 1-0 after winning the second match on Monday by 67 runs. The first ODI was washed out.

Pakistan made two changes. Opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq was ruled out due to a hand injury he sustained while fielding during the second game and replaced by Abid Ali, who scored a century in his debut ODI against Australia in the United Arab Emirates in March. Allrounder Imad Wasim was replaced by Mohammad Nawaz, who will be playing an ODI after three years.

Sri Lanka gave wicketkeeper-batsman Minod Bhanuka his ODI debut in the place of Sadeera Samarawickrama. The visitors also dropped Isuru Udana and Oshada Fernando and brought in Angelo Perera and Lakshan Sandakan.

The ODI series will be followed by three Twenty20s at Lahore from Saturday.

It is the first time since Sri Lanka’s team bus was attacked in Lahore in 2009 that a foreign team is conducting a two-week tour of Pakistan.

Major teams have avoided the country since the ambush that killed eight people and injured several players.

Some of the top Sri Lanka players pulled out of the tour due to security concerns.
