President seeks blessings from Asgiriya, Malwatta chief prelates

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has called on chief prelates of the Asgiriya and Malwatta chapters this morning (Feb. 02).

 

The Head of State has sought the blessings of the chief prelates ahead of the 75th Independence Day on February 04, the President’s Media Division (PMD) reported.

 

Visiting the Malwatta Maha Viharaya, the President called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera. President Wickremesinghe inquired about his well-being and offered ‘Atapirikara’ to the Maha Sangha.

 

The Maha Sangha led by Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera then invoked blessings on the President while the chief prelate presented a special commemorative gift to him.

 

President Wickremesinghe, who then visited the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya, called on the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera and engaged in a brief discussion.

 

The Head of State also inquired about the development activities of the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya and the Maha Sangha led by the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter chanted ‘seth pirith’, invoking blessings on the President.
