Avissawella High Court has barred the foreign travels of the wanted criminal gang member Ravindu Sanka alias “Booru Muna” who recently fled police custody at the airport.

The travel ban was imposed after taking into the submissions presented by the Western Province South police division.

“Booru Muna”, accused of shooting a restaurant owner dead in Hanwella on December 18 last year, was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake on February 24 while trying to board a flight to Dubai using a forged passport. However, he had fled police custody with the help of two Buddhist monks.

At the time of his arrest, “Booru Muna” has confessed to taking shelter in a house located on Malwatta Road in Millaniya, Bandaragama, after the murder of the said restaurant owner.

He is believed to have been the gunman in a number of killings.

Meanwhile, an active serving member of the Sri Lanka Navy, his wife and four others are now under arrest for aiding and abetting “Booru Muna” following his escape last month.
