The Sri Lankan government has raised the fee charged for the license to carry on the business of a manufacturer of explosives.
This was announced in a special gazette notification issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe last week, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence.
The license fee was increased by the powers vested in the Head of State under Section 33 of the Explosives Ordinance No. 21 of 1956.
As per the communiqué, the license to carry on the business of a manufacturer of blasting powder has been raised from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000 while the fee for the production of safety fuse went up from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 7,000.
The license fee for the manufacture of both blasting powder and safety fuse was meanwhile increased from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 10,000.
The fee for the license to manufacture water gel explosives and emulsion explosives stands at Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 25,000, respectively.
In the meantime, the fees changed charged for the license to carry on a business of importer and the permit for acquisition, possession and the use of explosives have also gone up.
