
Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry has held a cordial discussion with India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today (May 03).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the further strengthening of bilateral relations and the economic partnership for the benefit of both Sri Lanka and India.
Sabry, on behalf of the Sri Lankan government and its people, expressed gratitude to Sitharaman and the Indian government for all the assistance and support extended to the island nation during its extremely difficult and challenging time, and for contributing positively towards its recovery process.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 56th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The event is being held from May 02 to 05, 2023 in Incheon, South Korea.
The Annual Meeting is a high-level event attended by around 3,000-4,000 participants, including Ministers of Finance, Governors of Central Banks, Senior Officials of the major global banks, companies and media.
Sabry will deliver a statement at the Governor’s Business Session on 04 May 2023 among other interventions during the period.
The Director General of the Department of External Resources Ajith Abeysekera is accompanying the foreign minister on the visit.
