Police have fired water cannons in attempts to disperse a protest staged by the Socialist Youth Union (SYU) near Town Hall in Colombo.
The protesters were reportedly marching from Hyde Park towards the Viharamahadevi Park in remembrance of the Black July riots in 1983, Ada Derana learns.
Police teams, and those from the Anti-Riot Unit and the Sri Lanka Army were seen in the area.
