The UAE have been knocked out of the T20 World Cup with a 79-run loss to Sri Lanka in a Group A match in Geelong, Australia, on Tuesday.
The UAE were bowled out for 73 chasing 153, their second straight loss in the tournament.
After winning the toss, UAE opted to bowl first against Sri Lanka.
A Pathum Nissanka special lifted Sri Lanka to 152 runs after 20 overs of play.
UAE’s Karthik Meiyappan stole the show with a scintillating hat-trick, which kind of dented the momentum of the Lankan Lions.
Sri Lanka however registered their first win of the T20 World Cup 2022 as they defeated the United Arab Emirates by 79 runs in a Group A Encounter.
This win has moved them to the second in their classification. Dasun Shanaka’s men need a win in their final fixture to keep Super 12 hopes alive.
