The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected at some places in Uva and Easten provinces.
Showers may occur in coastal areas of the western and southern provinces and in Puttalam and Mannar districts during the morning too.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to 40kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
