Applications called for appointment of Bribery Commission members

The Constitutional Council has called for applications for the appointment of members of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

 

Accordingly, three suitable applicants will be considered and recommended to be appointed as members of the Bribery Commission, the Communications Department of Parliament said in a media release.

 

The applications are called under the provisions of Article 41B of the Constitution and provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.

 

The applicants need to have expertise, reached eminence, and have at least 20 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: law; investigation of crime and law enforcement; forensic auditing; forensic accounting; engineering; international relations and diplomatic services; management of public affairs; or public administration.

 

Every applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka and not more than 62 years of age as at the date of appointment to the Bribery Commission.

 

Once appointed, the Bribery Commission members should not be carrying on any business or pursuing any profession.

 

They are also required to declare assets and liabilities to the Constitutional Council according to the prevailing written laws before assuming office as a member of the Commission and submit to the Constitutional Council, a general disclosure of their interests as at the date of appointment before assuming office as a member of the Bribery Commission.

 

Duly completed application forms should be forwarded to “Secretary-General to the Constitutional Council, Parliament of Sri Lanka, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte” by registered post or by e-mail to “constitutionalcouncil@parliament.lk” on or before November 06, 2023.
