India won the first ODI against Sri Lanka by 67 runs today (10 Jan.), with former Indian captain Virat Kohli slamming his 45th ODI century.

India took on Sri Lanka in the first of the three-match ODI series in Barspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, India, and although having lost the toss, the hosts put up a grand score of 373 for the loss of seven wickets.

Kohli smashed a stunning 113 off 87 balls, with total of 12 boundaries and a sixer, bagging the title of Man of the Match.

The visitors, however, did not get off to the best of starts despite winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

Skipper Dasun Shanaka, however, ended his innings with a brilliant sixer, scoring his century with 108 runs under his belt and securing a total of 300 runs for the Lankans.

Sri Lanka lost their top order rather cheaply, and were therefore always chasing the game, despite the heroic efforts displayed by both Shanaka and Pathum Nissanka.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday (12 Jan.) on the field of Eden Grounds in Kolkata, India, for the second ODI.
