New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl against Sri Lanka in Dunedin on Wednesday in the second Twenty20.
Sri Lanka lead the three-match series 1-0. Sunday’s opening game was decided by a nail-biting Super Over after both teams chalked up 196 runs in Auckland.
New Zealand captain Tom Latham said the wicket at the University of Otago Oval was in good condition and wanted his seamers to put early pressure on the tourists.
The Black Caps stuck with the same team which lost the first T20.
Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka made just one change, strengthening his bowling line-up with seamer Kasun Rajitha, who replaced all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne.
The T20 series concludes in Queenstown on Saturday.
Sri Lanka have lost both the Test and one-day international series 2-0 in their tour of New Zealand.
