Ireland trail by a whopping 448 runs on day three of the 1st Test match against Sri Lanka after the visitors were bowled out for 143 runs in the first innings of the match.
The hosts put up a sensational show, notching a thumping total of 591 runs for the loss of six wickets in the first innings, while left-arm bowler Prabath Jayasuriya took out seven Irish wickets.
Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker showed some promising signs as he started day three by hitting a flurry of boundaries. Not for long, however, as Sri Lanka quickly took the last three remaining wickets following Jayasuriya’s haul.
Sri Lanka saw a galore of Test 100’s on day two against Ireland, with Sadeera Samarawickrama scoring his maiden Test century with a total of 183, Dinesh Chandimal having been unbeaten at 102, Dimuth Karunaratne scoring 179 and Kusal Mendis racking up 140 runs.
