
The residence of a prominent coconut and shrimp farm businessman in Punawitiya, Udappuwa, reportedly fell victim to a burglary in the early hours of Monday morning (25 December).
The businessman, who attended midnight mass with his family on the night of 24 December, returned home to discover a break-in, with stolen items including gold valued at nearly Rs. 7 million and a sum of cash, police reported.
The intruders are believed to have gained access to the house by breaking a window, as indicated by preliminary findings.
Further investigations into the burglary are being carried out by the Udappuwa Police.
