Sri Lankan athlete Yupun Abeykoon has spoken out on the recent injury he suffered while competing in the Savona International Meeting in Italy.
Taking to social media, Abeykoon stated that he will withdraw from all competitions for a few weeks, as per expert medical advice, after MRI scans confirmed that the runner had sustained a minor injury to his hamstring.
“I have already started my Rehab process with my Physio, doctors and the rest of the staff, and I am looking forward to coming back stronger than I was in the upcoming competitions”, he said, further assuring that he will continue to keep his social media updated about his condition.
Accordingly, the Sri Lankan track star has ruled himself out of the Florence Diamond League scheduled to take place on Friday, foregoing the chance to race against the Men’s 100m Olympic and World champions.
