Sri Lanka have arguably redeemed themselves in the first innings of the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan, setting a target of 324 for the visitors.
Sri Lanka put up a score of 323 runs for the loss of six wickets, with opening batsmen Pathum Nissanka (43) and Dimuth Karunaratne (52 )holding a 95-run partnership, after which skipper Kusal Mendis (78) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (44) put in a brilliant effort to get the hosts over the 300-mark.
Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva remained not out at 29 runs each.
Albeit Afghanistan’s bowlers not being able to take down as many wickets as they would have liked in the innings, their fierce batting line-up that won them first match of series may just tip the scales.
Earlier today (04 June), Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first against the visitors.
